Hi Everyone,
just had to share this story about a song of 'mine' on Cadel Evans titled 'Let me Ride'. I wrote the melody pretty much exactly one year ago, former workmate Patrick O'Brien, aka Shakespeare wrote the words. We both hated our job/any job with a passion and spend every opportunity discussing the heroics of Cadel in the Tour de France. Back then, we quickly did a recording with one mic in my kitchen, made a podcast for my website and forgot all about it. I got the sack soon after and Patrick finally followed suit last week. With too much time to spare and the Tour once again on this sports-nut' mind Patrick started 'bugging' me to do a decent recording that he could send to local radio stations, or whoever else might take an interest (Not many, I figured).
The cheeky bugger also send it directly to Cadel's website and the web dude over in France picked it up right away, thinks it's a classic and placed it prominently on the site. This was yesterday. This morning I got an email from France saying that the song was downloaded 1100 times in the first day!!!
To cut a long story short, here is the link http://cadelevans.com.au/videos.aspx , just click on 'listen to let me ride'.
In other news, Alicia Bee is oganising a CD launch for the long awaited new Broken Hearts album for the 30th August at the former Rob Roy here in Melbourne. More on that soon. Rumour has it that Sir James' Four Door Shit Box will be opening the night, which would be well worth seeing, never mind the star attraction...
Take care and bye for now, A |
