Andre Camilleri's new acoustic solo album CD 'No Relations', or how to make a record for 300 bucks.

It's been a while since Andre together with his band the Broken Hearts released their first album CD 'One Fine Day'.

In early June Andre started work on a solo album. He laid down his tracks for 11 new songs, grabbed his laptop and microphone and started rocking up at some of his ‘so-called friends' places. Once he was let in the house, there was no way he would leave again before at least three tracks had been recorded.

The Broken Hearts were obvious targets. Paul Thomas and James Stewart played guitar and Clark Fisher even managed to borrow a double bass for the occasion. Elizabeth and Andrew from The Taylor project played violin and banjo respectively. Then there is Mark Di Marzio on just about every string instrument you can think of and last but not least Ryan Sterling's right hand man Patrick O'Brien on Mandolin.

The end result is a collection of Andre's typical Honky Tonk and Country songwriting but with a sparse 99.9 % acoustic treatment (Try and get James Stewart to play acoustic guitar!). There are no drums but it grooves, there's no peddle steel but it sings and there is not much noise at all but it rocks in it's own way just the same. This is the record he just had to make.

After the many hours of rehearsing and recording, Andre traded some web design work for CD mastering and all up spent 300 bucks to get a hundred copies made. He still thinks he could have tried to get it cheaper.

And if you were wondering about the Broken Hearts promised second album, that will ready soon also.
